What is meso needling?
Meso needling is a treatment similar to micro needling but during and after the treatment specific cocktails are used and the depth of needles target mesoderm layer in the skin to produce more specific treatment with better results. This treatment aims to stimulate collagen production and renewal for smoother, more youthful looking skin. It’s used to treat fine lines, pigmentation, acne scarring and stretch marks.
Meso needling downtime
Skin irritation can be expected for the first day or two after the meso needling procedure. but this will subside quickly. Patients will also see some redness in the skin over the first two or three days. skin will need time to heal, so it’s important to avoid any activity that can cause sweating, which can result in inflammation.
It’s also a good idea to keep out of direct sunlight following the treatment, since heat and UV exposure can also trigger further irritation. Patients will start to notice some degree of improvement in the skin right away, and results will gradually become more apparent in the weeks following treatment.
Benefits
Meso needling stimulates the body’s natural wound healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production, therefore reversing as well as preventing signs of aging, moreover it enhances penetration of skincare ingredients.
It can also have a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation. Disfiguring scars, especially acne scars, can many times also be improved. New collagen fibres elevate any depressed scar tissue. An improved blood supply (neo-angiogenesis) into the previous fibrotic scar tissue also harmonises and blends the pigmentation with the periphery skin.
Side effects
Generally the treated areas recover rapidly from skin needling. However there are occasional side effects, which include:
- Oozing and swelling during the recovery phase.
- Skin infection with bacteria (rare) or herpes simplex virus (cold sores).
- Milia, which can be easily removed.
- Acne flare, which is usually mild.
Meso needling vs Microneedling
- Mesotherapy combines a bespoke cocktail of powerful vitamins, which are injected into the lower layers of the skin using a meso device with one needle, whereas microneedling gently moves multiple microscopic needles over the face to cause miniscule puncture marks, activating the production of collagen and elastin.
